Pharma and Realty Confirm Leadership, Each in a Different Stage
Nifty 50 (INDEXNSE:NIFTY_50) closed the week at 24,334.30, and sector rotation this week is selective rather than broad. Strength is concentrated in a small number of sectors rather than spread evenly across the board, which reinforces that this remains a stock picker’s environment.
Realty and Pharma are confirming each other as leaders this week, though the character of each move is different. Pharma is in a clean, established uptrend with room to keep running, while Realty’s strength is a sharper recovery that is now testing resistance it has failed at more than once. That kind of dual leadership, one mature and one still proving itself, is still a healthier sign of participation than strength concentrated in a single theme.
Pharma
INDEXNSE:NIFTY_PHARMA is at 25,645, up 3.56% over the past month. This is the more mature and confirmed of the two leaders, the index is in a clean, established uptrend, trading well above both its moving averages, which are rising and clearly separated. The three and six month trend backs this up fully, and relative strength versus Nifty has stayed positive and improving throughout. Momentum looks steady rather than stretched, this is the kind of leadership that tends to have more durability precisely because it isn’t fighting an old resistance level the way Realty currently is.

Realty
INDEXNSE:NIFTY_REALTY is at 918.7, up 12.70% over the past month. This is a sharp recovery rather than a steady grind, the index has surged off its April lows and is now testing a resistance zone it has failed at twice before, in June and November. The three and six month trend confirms real strength, and relative strength versus Nifty has been building throughout. Momentum still looks like it’s accelerating, but with price sitting right at a level that has rejected it before, the next move here will say a lot about whether this leadership can extend or needs to pause first.

Energy
INDEXNSE:NIFTY_ENERGY is at 39,277, down 3.67% over the past month. The picture here is more mixed than Realty or Pharma, the longer-term six month trend has been strong, but the one and three month windows have cooled noticeably and relative strength versus Nifty has turned negative recently. This looks like a sector that led earlier in the year and is now digesting those gains rather than one confirming fresh strength today.
IT
INDEXNSE:NIFTY_IT is at 29,226.6, down 5.78% over the past month. This is the clearest laggard on the board, weakness has been consistent and worsening across the three and six month windows as well, with relative strength versus Nifty deeply negative throughout. This looks structural rather than a temporary pause, there’s no sign yet of the trend stabilizing.
PSU Bank
INDEXNSE:NIFTY_PSU_BANK is at 8,381.75, down 4.36% over the past month. Like IT, the weakness compounds rather than eases further out, both the three and six month windows show ongoing softness and relative strength against Nifty stays negative. The lack of any turn in the shorter-term numbers suggests this is more than a brief dip.
Bottom line: Pharma and Realty are earning genuine sector-wide leadership this week, but Pharma’s trend is confirmed and mature while Realty is a sharp recovery now testing a resistance zone it has failed at before. IT and PSU Bank remain structurally weak with no signs of stabilizing. For swing traders, Pharma setups carry a cleaner trend backdrop, while Realty names deserve a closer watch on how price behaves at current resistance before assuming the leadership extends further.
